The thrilling 11-inning matchup that saw the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 averaged a total 51M watchers in the United States, Canadian, and Japan markets. MLB announced this is the most-watched World Series Game 7 after the 1991 edition showdown between the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Breakdown

The Saturday memorable game averaged over 27 million viewers on Fox channels, its Spanish-language channel and their digital services. Per ratings data, it was the second most-watched program of the previous week.

It also stands as the most-watched Fall Classic matchup after the 2017 edition final game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which averaged 29.07M. This marks a sixteen percent increase compared to the previous Game 7 featuring the Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19M.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 ranked fourth, Game 4 was 7th, Game 5 came in eighth, and the third game finished in thirteenth position.

Global Viewership Figures

In the Canadian market, the climactic game averaged 11.6 million viewers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This was the highest-rated English-language broadcast in the country since the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the deciding contest began at 9 p.m. local time, it averaged 12M. This came after the previous Friday’s sixth game – in which Fall Classic MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed one run in six innings – averaged over 13 million spectators, making it the most-watched Fall Classic matchup on a single network in Japan.
